According to a 2004 Department of Energy report on the Market for Compressed Air Efficiency Services, 40% to 50% of compressed air can be shut off. In fact, the study estimates that 18% of all industrial energy consumption is dedicated to compressed air. At $450 annually per online horsepower, it is hard to ignore the impact it has on plant productivity and profitability. What are you doing to make sure compressed air is making you money rather than costing you money?
In our 45 years of experience, we find that nine out of ten plant managers and business owners do not have a good grasp on how compressed air is affecting the profitability and productivity of the business. We can help you understand how the compressed air system is affecting your business’s output (product and profits) and help find ways to make it better.
Feasibility Study:
Prior to any engagement, we want to help you determine what kind of return you should expect from an Air System Case Study. In order to determine the potential for improvement, our consulting staff will meet with you at your location to conduct a comprehensive Compressed Air Feasibility Study. We conduct interviews with representatives from Production, Finance, Facilites, and Business Management. We then present our findings and determine what the appropriate next step is. The Feasibility Study process is simply an investment of our time to help you make the best decision for your business.
Compressed Air System Evaluation:
If you decide that a formal evaluation will create big returns for your business, we will work with the local electrical utility to help sponsor a full Compressed Air System Evaluation. The Evaluation consists of two parts:
Compressed Air Supply Side Study:
• Install a continuous reading flow meter. This will establish air demand during plant operation as well as during plant downtime.
• Install continuous reading amp meters to obtain power readings of the air compressors over a period of operation.Install pressure transducers to develop a plant system pressure profile.
Compressed Air Demand Side Study
• Identify inappropriate usages (sparging, atomizing, etc.)
• Areas of artificial demand will be identified and pictures will be provided to show these items.
• Audit your compressed air system for leaks. The airline system will be inspected for leaks by the use of an Ultrasonic Detector. An estimate of the amount of air leaks will be provided
• Leaks will be tagged, recorded on a leak survey form and identified on a plant layout. This will permit ease of identification for repair
How can I get started?
Using our Feasibility Questionnaire, you can begin to gather the information we will need to start the process of studying your business. Once you have filled out the form and submitted it, we will call you directly to set-up an appointment to visit your location and complete the Feasibility Study, free of charge. At Air Power, we strive to build a winning partnership with our clients, and offer solutions that provide as much benefit to your business as they do to ours.
